SITE DEVELOPMENT

The amphitheater space requires and deserves a serious and well organized renovation. Our plan accomplishes this through 3 distinct phases. Our immediate goal is to complete the work necessary to bring the theater up to current code and contemporary theater standards. The first phase of funding and construction will last approximately two years and has been budgeted at roughly six million dollars. Following completion of this first phase are two additional phases budgeted at roughly 10-12 million dollars in total to be completed over a period of three to five years.

Phase One will encompass all site improvements necessary to safely and securely open the space to the public. Phase One will address all systems that require updating including electrical and plumbing. We will also update the bathrooms, concessions, box office, remodel the technical theater booth, seats, and stage. We will improve ADA access. A large custom light truss will be erected to replace the original wooden lighting towers. A section of park space outside of the theater footprint will be repurposed as festival space for a small stage, hospitality/vendor spaces, food trucks, and sculpture garden.

Phase Two will see the construction of a rehearsal and multi-use event space above the existing cast house. This will allow for rehearsals to be conducted during the summer days when temperatures prevent practicing on the stage. This will allow for shows and rehearsals to overlap and free up flexible use of the mainstage for other groups and purposes. Additionally, this will allow for WWSTG to utilize the space year-round for rehearsals and events, as well as earn income through facility rentals.

Phase Three will complete the site by adding 16 private viewing suites split between the east and west sides of the audience. These will offer premium viewing experiences. They will be contracted to sponsors as additional revenue to support operations.
